"particularly I tried many ways to make myself a basket"
Three artists, a ceramicist, a basket weaver and a painter explore the essential elements of Robinson Crusoe's life. The sea is what brought Robinson Crusoe to the island and is his only means of escape. While he is there, the necessity of baskets and pots crafted for domestic function dominates.
"I had always imagined the idyll of sitting on an island twiddling my thumbs so I'm a bit exhausted by Crusoe's hard work in growing, hewing and making activities!" Alex Leadbeter, painter.
