Enter the #ATEAB23 Creative Writing Competition
#ATownExploresABook23’s creative writing competition is inspired by Mary Seacole’s travelogue, Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole in Many Lands – a heritage book with descriptions of Mary’s travel experiences.
The theme is JOURNEY, and we welcome entries from aspiring young writers age 5-14. There are prizes for three categories – Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, and Key Stage 3.
So, what does the word JOURNEY mean to you? We are interested in your creative voice. Write from your own perspective or a character’s perspective. You can write a story, poem, letter, diary entry…the possibilities are endless!
A Town Explores A Book 2023 creative writing competition is hosted by Hastings Museum and Art Gallery. For inspiration why not journey through the museum collections?
Please send us up to 150 words of creative writing by FRIDAY 28 APRIL
Or email your entry to firstname.lastname@example.org and please include the following information:
- Key Stage 1, 2, or 3
Members of the A Town Explores A Book team will be filmed reading the shortlisted entries from each category, and the videos will be uploaded to our website.
One winner will be chosen from each category, and the prizes are a fantastic bundle of books from the National Literacy Trust Hub in Hastings, and vouchers donated by Hastings Thrives and Hastings Museum & Art Gallery.
We can’t wait to read your entries!
