A Town Explores A Book festival centres the voices of those who have experienced barriers to accessing heritage literature in traditional educational settings.

Our diverse team of early-career artists are at the heart of planning and delivery of the festival, supported by mid-career artists to realise their vision.

Many of the early-career artist team have not been lifelong readers, and have developed a fresh approach to creatively exploring a book, which brings a heritage text within reach of a much wider section of society.

The festival provides multiple entry points, and fun, accessible ways into Mary Seacole’s book supporting readers to produce their own creative responses.
